Student Visa Application Process
Step 1: Getting documents ready
In order to apply for an ED visa,
the student needs to have at least 12 months remaining validity and sufficient blank pages in their passport. The student’s tourist visa must have validity for at least 3 weeks from the date the application documents are submitted.
The student enroll in the English Language course 190-hour package (for an 7-month course) or the 270-hour package (for a 12-month course).
Step 2: Processing a letter from The Ministry of Education
• To get the necessary papers from the Ministry Of Education in order to apply for the first 90-days ED visa takes at least 3 weeks from the time The Knowledge has received documentation from the student.
Step 3: Applying for ED Visa at a Thai Embassy or consulate abroad
• Please check the working hours and relevant holidays of the Embassy at which you plan to apply for the ED visa. This must be the same one that you have informed The Knowledge of in Step 2. It takes at least 2 working days to get a Non-immigrant ED 90 day visa. • It is the student’s responsibility to pay for the visa application (approximately 60 US dollars for Single Entry or 150 US dollars for Multiple entry) directly to the Thai Embassy or consulate. • Most applicants can apply from any country. Generally, students from Europe and North. Some nationalities may need to go back to the Thai Embassy in their home country.(Please check your nationality list with our visa consultant). • ED Visas have been successfully processed in the countries listed below. However applicants are advised to check with the Embassy before they book their ticket – Royal Thai Embassy at Ho Chi Minh / Vietnam – Royal Thai Embassy at Penang / Malaysia – Royal Thai Embassy at Vientiane / Laos (Only 1 visa per year) – Royal Thai Embassy at Phnom Penh / Cambodia.
Step 4: Student returns to Thailand with a 90 days ED visa
• When the student returns to Thailand with a 90 days ED visa, Student must submit a copy of passport with new ED visa stamp to the school within 7 days after their arrival. If the student does not submit their passport within 7 days of their arrival, The Knowledge will not be able to process the needed paperwork on time, which will affect the student’s next visa extension at the Department of Immigration. • Students must start to study within 30 days of returning to Thailand is required by the MOE. • During this 90-day study, if students wishes to leave Thailand they MUST apply for a RE-ENTRY PERMIT which can be done 7 days in advance at the immigration office in Chaengwattana or at the airport on your departure date.
Step 5: Visa Extension / Address Report at the Immigration Department
• Once the second letter from The MOE has been received (see step 4.1), it means that the student is allowed to stay in Thailand with the ED visa for another 5 months. Students are advised to contact the visa section at least 3 weeks in advance for document preparation.The student still MUST submit a Visa Extension and Address Report which paid directly to the Immigration Office. • Our visa consultant will inform the student by email when they can come and collect the extension document.
